1970 Toyota FJ55

This is a truly stunning "Original" FJ55 from 1970, powered by a 6 cylinder, 4-Speed transmission.  This FJ55 underwent a restoration five years ago, and rarely since.  The new paint shows no blemishes, and the FJ55 starts, idles, and runs wonderfully.  The comfortable cruising speed is right around 70 mph.  In 2013, the door panels were reupholstered, as well as two of the seats.

Coveted by the FJ cogniscenti, this FJ55 is fitted with a rare Toyota Factory winch - the same as the ones used on Japanese military vehicles, as well as a tow hitch, and period correct roof rack installed by the previous owner.  The black vinyl interior shows very little wear, and with the headliner being near perfect. The only notable blemish is a small 3" crack on the top of the dash, which is truly barely noticeable from the cockpit.  The mileage shown at 81,000 is not documented, however, is believed to be original.  The original airbox has been removed, and in place, a nice 38mm Webber Carburator was installed to help the engine breathe much more easily as well as providing a few additional horsepower.

The tires are very good, installed in 2013, with virtually all the tread depth remaining.  Free wheeling hubs on the front easily allow transition from two-wheel to four-wheel drive.

The engine bay is very clean. The A/C is genuine factory - but is currently non-operatable.  The heater blows well, and is controlled from within the engine compartment.  The trunk has a lovely patina (left deliberately during the restoration), now covered by a custom rubber mat.  All glass is perfect, with the rubber window seals being new "old stock", and showing no deterioration.

Surprisingly, the power steering is responsive and light for such a domineering machine. Also, the gearbox is smooth and precise.

This is a truly a great opportunity to get into an value appreciating FJ, that can be used as a daily driver, or very easily turned into a show vehicle.

The Land Cruiser 55 was produced from 1967 to 1980. Toyota refers to the FJ55G and FJ55V as the first "real" station wagon in the Land Cruiser series, marking the beginning of the station wagon branch,
