1955 Porsche Beck 550 Spyder
This extremely over built and well sorted Beck 550 Spyder was completed and certified circa 1998 and has not changed hands since. Mileage since completion shows to be approx 5,200. The attention to detail was superb, as evidenced by the correct gauges, interior materials, all away down to the 14mm wheel studs and fasteners. The body was extensively block sanded prior to the application of the correctly coded silver paint that shows like a factory applied coating and panel fit and gaps are superb. The 2275cc engine pulls hard and strong. The beefed up gearbox shifts well and was built to handle the additional power of the high output engine with the inclusion of a hydraulic clutch and close ratio gearset. Suspension was designed to handle better than the original with the addition of a Formula V front sway bar in place of the upper leaf springs up front and adjustable spring plates, .625" Z Bar, and small diameter torsion bars out back. The Neal 4 wheel disc brakes feature ventilated discs, aluminum calipers and stainless steel brake lines, as well as adjustable brake bias. The 550 style gauges feature 914 cores and were built for this application by Palo Alto Speedometers. This Spyder was built to drive, with all wiring harness connectors being modular with critical components protected by relays. All receipts for work as well as parts are present, as well as a large number of spare components. Engine and gearbox specs are as follows:
